Zoo - Liberec, Liberec
The zoo in Liberec is the oldest zoo in the former area of Czechoslovakia. It was founded in 1919 and presently it can be proud cca 170 animal species of the total number of nearly 1.000 specimen. Except for the wide exposition in particular specific pavilions (the pavilions of giraffes, elephants, beasts, monkeys or trops) we ensure tutorials for schools, and you can also find here the wide offer of ecological educational programms. In the lower part of the zoo you can get on a small train, the favourite department is also the contact zoo where the visitors can even pet or feed some animals.
Only in the zoo Liberec you can see the white Indian tiger (the only breed in the Czech Republic), Chinese takins (the only breed apart from Asia), the largest breed group of chimpanzee in the Czech Republic, one of the largest breed groups of Somalian donkeys in Europe or the wholest collection of birds of prey in Europe. In our areal you can also find some refreshment, buffet GIBON, sweetshop Stork nest or a souvenir shop. The terrain is well adapted for disabled visitors and mothers with baby-coaches. In the zoo areal there is also the Centre of the ecological education Divizna and the Centre for hard run animals Bobík.
